Asia Open Data Challenge was organized for the first time in 2015 with the aim of solving common challenges by leveraging open data in Asia.

At this year, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand, organized the 5th year for this international competition, participants seek to address challenges under the theme of “Smart Life” by making use of open data in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.

2019 Asia Open Data Challenge has closed its registration on Aug 5th.

This year we received numerous applications more than ever all over from Asia, click here to see the latest qualified list.

2019 Asia Open Data Challenge Extends the Online Registration to Monday, Aug. 5th!

This is the 1st year for numerous international enterprises together exploring the innovation and application of data, creating more opportunities for international cooperation with the participants. Thus, for embracing more possibilities with the business-oriented participants, the Challenge has been extended to Monday, Aug. 5th.
The enterprises and their themes include:

- HERE Technologies: Make every day experiences smarter and more sustainable by leveraging the power of location services developing by HERE API.
- Gigabyte & WeatherRisk: How to utilize open data of air condition (such as pollution sources, weather conditions, overseas transmission, etc.) for prediction models to create innovative services for people.
- Microsoft & PChome: How to apply data to create a full channel of O2O sales and maximize regional economy.

Guideline

Who can join?

Those first-timers and non-engineers are all welcome!
We are waiting for not only engineers but data scientists, designers, planners and directors,…… Everyone is welcomed!
Each team must be composed of 2-5 members.
The application should not already launch product or any award.

Works Specifications

The team can choose between Head Category, Enterprise Category, or both (but can choose only one company from Enterprise Category).
The team should create one workable application that MUST use government open data from your country and from at least one other country, and mix with other data.
The team should make their work (including document, presentation material, videos, data usage…etc.), and upload to registration.
The team MUST build a working MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and can do live demo on site.

Judge

Each country and enterprise will have 3 judges to score the applications. Each country's and enterprise's judge will pick up 1 winning team for each country or enterprise on 30 Aug.

Presentation

Total online presentation time: 7 minutes.
4 minutes for presentation and demo, 1 minute for judges to ask questions, and 2 minutes for teams to answer.

Final Competition* :

Teams who advance to the Final Competition will present via live streaming with total online presentation time: 7 minutes. 4 minutes for presentation and demo, 1 minute for judges to ask questions, and 2 minutes for teams to answer.

Prizes

Invincible Award (Head Category - Afforded by Each Country) Invincible Award: US$2,000 and certificate
Winning teams will be awarded at the 2019 AODP Summit in Japan. (Each country will provide one round-trip ticket for their winners, one representative from each team.)
Each country will have an Invincible Award.
Superb Award (Enterprise Category - Afforded by Each Enterprise) Superb Award: US$1,500 and certificate
Additional award can be created by each enterprise.
Winning enterprise will be awarded at the 2019 AODP Summit in Japan. (Each enterprise will provide one round-trip ticket for their winners, one representative from each team.)
Team's Choice Award (Afforded by Each Country) Team's Choice Award: US$300
(Each Head and Enterprise Category team can only vote for another team, and there will be only one team for each country.)
